How Hair Extensions are Attached?

There are several different ways to attach hair extensions. However, there are a few basic methods which are used most often. But first it is important to understand the hair that is actually being attached and how to choose the best for yourself.

Most hair that is used for extensions comes in wefts. These are strands of hair that are attached together with a curtain at the top. A strand of hair is about 30 individual strands of hair that are bundled together. Each strand of hair has a cuticle that is faced in a certain direction. All the cuticles on a persons head are actually facing the right directing. If the hair is cut directly from a persons head then all the cuticles will go in the same direction and the hair will be very shiny and smooth. Cuticles are the main thing that affects the feel and look of a person\'s hair.

There are both human hair and synthetic hair that are used for hair extensions. If you want to get a good quality hair you will get what you pay for. Cuticle hair is the hair that is cut off of a persons head. This means that all of the cuticles are going in the same direction and the hair will not become tangled or matted easily. This is an expensive hair but it will be of higher quality and will last much longer. Much of the hair that is used nowadays comes from European women. This is because they tend not to use the chemicals on their hair like American women do. In addition, more and more hair is coming from India, Asia and Russia. The best quality hair is cut off of women and is sold specifically for hair extensions. Women will grow their hair long and will not color it or perm it. This way they will be able to cut it and sell their hair.

Synthetic hair is also available for use. This is man-made and comes in a variety of quality levels. If you get a really expensive synthetic hair piece then you know it is still of very high quality.

Once you have determined the type of hair that you will use and the amount of money you will spend you will need to determine how you will attach your extensions. There are several ways to do this, but the most popular are bonding and weaving.

Bonding hair extensions is the quickest way to attach hair extensions. Bonding glue is applied to the weft and then is applied at the root of your hair. This is a temporary method that will need to be redone on a regular basis.

Weaving extensions into your hair will actually need to be done by making corn rows or tracks on the head. This is done very close to the scalp of the head. Natural hair will lay over the tracks which will create a natural look.
